Patton Hyman is a practicing attorney and President of Tail of the Tiger, Inc., a 501(c) (3)nonprofit educational organization. Housed in Barnet, VT, Tail of the Tiger (www.tailofthetiger.org)presents retreats and programs applying mindfulness meditation in the professions, business, and the arts. Patton has taught meditation, including teacher trainings, for 30 years, and served as Resident Director (Atlanta) of Shambhala Training, a nonsectarian meditation program, for nine years.
He is the author of “The Mindful Lawyer: Mindfulness Meditation and Law Practice,” a copy of which is available on line at http://www.tailofthetiger.org/documents/mindful_lawyer_1.pdf. Tail of the Tiger, under Patton’s leadership, has presented a number of bar-sponsored mindfulness meditation programs in several states, accredited for mandatory continuing legal education.
Patton has also participated in presenting mindfulness-based programs on relationships, organizational leadership, and health care, as well as the training of meditation instructors, as well as programs and conferences for psychotherapists, teachers, and business and organizational leaders. Before moving to Vermont, he was a member of the firm of Sutherland, Asbill & Brennan, LLP (Atlanta), where he practiced for 28 years. He is a member of the Vermont and Georgia bar associations.
