Urban Retreat: Mindfulness in Action

During this weeklong urban retreat participants will:

  • Practice sitting and walking meditation throughout each day 8:30am – 7:30pm
  • Receive group and individual meditation instruction from trained meditation teachers
  • Participate in daily dharma discussions on topics drawn from Chogyam Trungpa’s most recent book “Mindfulness in Action”
  • Receive hands on  guidance in posture and “bodily presence” during meditation sessions

Participants are welcome to “tailor” the retreat - accommodating work and home schedules by attending meditation sessions before/after work, dropping in during the day or attending selected entire days. The retreat is designed to accommodate our often busy urban lifestyles.

But attending all sessions throughout the 7 day retreat, participants will satisfy Shambhala International’s weekthun requirement.

Our source book for this retreat will be Chogyam Trungpa, Rinpoche’s “Mindfulness in Action”. Participants are encouraged to be familiar with the text prior to the retreat, exploring and contemplating the teachings in preparation for the weeklong practice.
